Community Grief Tending Ritual by Living Village Grief

Living Village Grief is bringing a grief tending ritual to FUSION | The Cell on Saturday, October 25, from 11 AM to 4 PM. Grief was never meant to live in isolation. In coming together, participants remember that healing happens in community, and in the brave act of allowing ourselves to be seen. Together you will tend what aches, soften what has hardened, and reconnect with what matters most deeply.

These gatherings honor grief in all its forms: personal loss, endings and transitions, sorrow for the world, ecological grief, political and cultural heartbreak, ancestral wounds, loss of village and belonging, and the quiet griefs that often go unnamed. Every grief belongs here.

Participants will weave together group singing and sounding, movement, poetry, guided visualizations, altar work, writing with witnessing, and grief conversations.  This ritual will be held over five hours, with a half-hour break woven into the day.

Please come well fed, hydrated, and ready to gently drop in.

This grief tending ritual is facilitated by Luna Cervantes, Deva Khalsa, and Rebecca Leeman.

REGISTRATION: $50 Early Bird (Until October 18) | $60 General Admission

The number of participants is limited to 30.

Free parking is available in FUSION’s main lot, in our lot next to Burger King on Lomas, and is also free along 1st Street after 6 PM (more parking info + map available here).

ABOUT LIVING GRIEF VILLAGE

Living Village Grief is a group of women grief tenders creating compassionate, embodied spaces where grief can be witnessed, expressed, and held in community.

Through ritual, movement, writing, storytelling, sounding, and deep listening, we tend what our culture often asks us to carry alone: loss, longing, and exile. We believe grief is not something to be fixed or overcome, but witnessed, honored, expressed, and accompanied.

As we enter a new chapter, we are moving away from highlighting Francis Weller’s work as a foundation for our practice in light of concerns regarding his sexual misconduct and inappropriate relationships with clients and students. We are widening our circle of inquiry, drawing from cultural knowledge keepers, elders, writers, poets, somatic practitioners, ritualists, song carriers, and grief workers while honoring the traditions from which their wisdom arises.

Our intention is simple: to create a village for grief where people can belong, be witnessed in their humanity, and carry their grief together.
