Sanctuary Cinema is proud to partner with NMPBS on a screening of AURORA’S SUNRISE and BOAT PEOPLE, plus a FREE Dinner at FUSION | The Cell on Thursday, November 20, starting at 5:30 PM! The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

AURORA’S SUNRISE
At the age of 14, Aurora Mardiganian survived the Armenian genocide and escaped to New York, where her story became a media sensation. Her newfound fame led to her starring in Auction of Souls, one of Hollywood’s earliest blockbusters. Blending storybook animation, video testimony, and rediscovered footage from her lost silent epic, Aurora’s Sunrise revives Mardiganian’s forgotten story.

BOAT PEOPLE (9 mins)
by Kjell Boersma and Thao Lam

As a child in Vietnam, Thao’s mother often rescued ants from bowls of sugar water. Years later they would return the favor. Using a striking metaphor, Boat People traces one family’s flight across the turbulent waters of history.

This event is free and open to all!
