You’re invited to attend the Shadow Boxers Documentary: Albuquerque Kickoff Event at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 14!
Producers of a new documentary series, “Shadow Boxers,” are hosting a community gathering at FUSION to kick off a video project highlighting stories of hope, healing, and transformation in New Mexico. Join friends, colleagues, and people working in government, business, philanthropy, public relations, the arts, social justice, and mental health spaces to brainstorm story ideas, people to work with, etc., as they begin production. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited and an RSVP is required. Free food & drink will be served.
ABOUT SARA TOMER-TAPIA
Sara Tomer-Tapia is the narrator of Shadow Boxers and a proud Chicana, mother, wife, social activist, poet, and first-generation high school/college graduate. Born and raised in the small town of Raton, N.M., she came from humble means, with big dreams and a strong desire to make a difference in the world. Sara has worked in service organizations like ENLACE, PB&J Family Services, Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center, and Service Organization for Youth. Throughout her journey, she’s seen and experienced her share of pain and suffering; now, she wants to share her story while inspiring others to share theirs.
ABOUT JAKE MCCOOK
Jake McCook is a New Mexico-based communications professional and producer of Shadow Boxers. He has worked for more than 10 years in public relations, political organizing, and in the entertainment industry building social impact campaigns for various issues, candidates, and storytelling projects. After many years in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, Jake returned to the Land of Enchantment in 2019 and founded a communications consulting firm, McCook Strategies, LLC and a production company, What's Good Video, LLC. He is passionate about using storytelling for social change.
